Strain of a Nation

A Documentary Feature Film

Strain of a Nation will be a Documentary Feature about how this powerful marijuana strain, OG Kush, started a Zeitgeist movement which demonstrates how American Pop Culture can influence the status quo of society through music, film, television, over the course of the 1990’s, 2000’s, and 2010’s.

The OG Kush story will unfold before the audience’s eyes starting from the legalization of alcohol (after Prohibition) to the sudden banning of marijuana and hemp. Marijuana’s popularity began in a small group of famous artists, the best stuff passed among them only. As they shared this particular strain its popularity grew exponentially. With this popularity its illegality remained the same. Prisons overfilled as family members sat in jail, awaiting for the outside world to wake up to the positive benefits of this plant has to offer to humanity.

The resultant strain placed on families as loved ones sat in jail draws empathy from the audience because the documentary will demonstrate that it never should have been a crime through specific case studies, research, and recent American history throughout the past 4 decades. The pharmaceutical companies gross profits during this time nauseate the audience as the risks of their medicines to ease pain and seizures are just as bad as their benefits. Desperate for natural remedies mass America sought illegal marijuana to ease physical and mental pain and suffering of their loved ones. As people in power realized this natural, miracle drug could ease the suffering of so many as their own loved ones experienced relief.

The propagandized moral grounds argument sparked high controversy, mirroring Prohibition’s argument. Now, marijuana sits on ballots across the country awaiting legalization for more than just medical use but recreational. OG Kush, the strain of marijuana that jump-started the revolution, has a rippling story of how it has changed America forever.
